0028. Cuba - Faro de Roncali Lighthouse


The Faro de Roncali Lighthouse is located on Cabo de San Antonio (Cape San Antonio) at the extreme Western tip of the Island, overlooking the Yucatan Strait which separates Cuba from Mexico.  The Lighthouse was named for Count Federico Roncali, the Spanish Governor of Cuba during its construction.

This Lighthouse was commemorated by Cuba with the release of the stamp in the year 1980 (1st Lighthouse series).

Built in 1850, the FARO de RONCALI Lighthouse:

0027. South Africa - Pelican Point Lighthouse


The Lighthouse was built by the South African Government during their Administration of Walvis Bay Territory.  After the independence of Namibia in the year 1990, the Pelican Point is under the control of Namibian Government.  

One of the naturally protected harbor on the South-West African Coast, the Lighthouse was commemorated by the Republic of South Africa with the release of stamp on 9-Jun-1988.

The Pelican Point Lighthouse was commemorated by the Namibian Post on 18-Jun-2010.

Built in the year 1932, the PELICAN POINT Lighthouse:

  • Tower is CIRCULAR cast iron
  • Tower is painted with BLACK and WHITE HORIZONTAL Bands
  • Lantern is painted with RED
  • Height is 35 meters

0026. Canada - Louisbourg Lighthouse


Louisbourg Lighthouse is a historic Canadian Lighthouse at Louisbourg - Nova Scotia.  It is the site of the First Lighthouse in Canada.  This Canada's oldest Light Station, built by France during the period when Cape Breton Island was a French colony.  

Nova Scotia is the province at the extreme South-Eastern corner of Canada. The Southern and Eastern parts of the province lie on a peninsula facing the Atlantic to the East and the Bay of Fundy to the West.

Canada commemorated the Lighthouse in the Nova Scotia Province with the release of stamp on 21-Sep-1984.

Built in the year 1734, the LOUISBOURG Lighthouse:

0025. Canada - Ile Verte Lighthouse


The Ile Verte Lighthouse is located in the Quebec (Eastern) region of Canada.  

Canada commemorated the Third Oldest Lighthouse with the release of stamp on 21-Sep-1984.

Built in 1809, the Ile VERTE Lighthouse:

0024. Canada - Gibraltar Point Lighthouse


The Gibraltar Point Lighthouse is a Lighthouse located on the Toronto Islands in Toronto - Ontario.   Ontario has a tremendous width East to West, including the entire Canadian side of the Great Lakes.  This is the Oldest Lighthouse in Ontario and Second Oldest in Canada.

Canada commemorated the reputed to be the Oldest existing Lighthouse on the either side of Great Lakes with the release of stamp on 21-Sep-1984.

Built in 1808, the GIBRALTAR POINT Lighthouse:

  • Tower is UNPAINTED gray stone

  • Height is 25 meters

0023. Canada - Fisgard Lighthouse


The Fisgard Lighthouse was the First Lighthouse on Canada's West Coast.  A 19th century Light, the Light here was automated in the year 1929.

Built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was not yet part of Canada, Fisgard's White Tower has stood faithfully at the entrance to Esquimalt Harbour. Once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Canada commemorated the Lighthouse in the British Columbian region with the release of stamp on 21-Sep-1984.

Built in 1860, the FISGARD Lighthouse:

0022. Alderney - Corblets Bay and Fort


Fort Corblets is one of the many huge Victorian forts on the tiny Channel Island of Alderney. The beach, known simply as “Corblets” is where most of the surfing can be done here.

As a result of its strategic military location and the German occupation during World War II, the Alderney Island has a fascinating collection of fortifications, most of which were open to public for exploring.

A Lighthouse was seen (shown in the arrow mark) on the other side of Corblet Bay.

The stamp was released by Alderney Post in the year 1983 (under the Island Scenes).

0021. Isle of Man - Douglas Head Lighthouse


The Douglas Head Lighthouse is at Douglas Head on the Isle of Man between Great Britain and Ireland. The Station was established in 1832 by the Isle of Man Harbour Board. 

The Douglas Head Lighthouse was commemorated by Isle of Man with the release of 16p stamp on 28-Feb-1978.

0020. Isle of Man - Point of Ayre Lighthouse


The island nation, Isle of Man, located in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland has the Oldest Lighthouse, The Point of Ayre (High) Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse was first lit in 1818. The Point of Ayre is the Northernmost point of the Isle of Man.  It lies at the Northern end of Ramsey Bay.

The Point of Ayre (High) Lighthouse was commemorated by Isle of Man with the release of 14p stamp on 28-Feb-1978.

0019. Australia - 150th Anniversary of Macquarie Lighthouse


The Macquarie Lighthouse was the First Australian Lighthouse in Australia.

To Commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Lighthouse, a 5 cent stamp was released on 27-Nov-1968.

The Macquarie Lighthouse, also known as South Head Upper Light, was the first, and is the longest serving lighthouse in Australia.  The Lighthouse is located near the entrance to Sydney Harbour.  The Lighthouse was named after the Governor Macquarie. 

Originally built in 1818, the Macquarie Lighthouse has an important place in the history of Sydney’s settlement. The MACQUARIE Lighthouse:
