0016. Namibia - Swakopmund Lighthouse

Swakopmund is a city on the coast of North-Western Namibia.  The city is an example of German colonial Architecture. 

The Swakopmund Lighthouse was commemorated by the Namibian Post with the release of stamp on 18-Jun-2010.

Built in the year 1903, the SWAKOPMUND Lighthouse:

• Tower is CIRCULAR
• Tower is painted with RED and WHITE HORIZONTAL Bands
• Lower section of the Tower is UNPAINTED brick
• Lower section is the Original Lighthouse built in 1902, the Upper section is added in 1910
• Height is 35 meters
• Colour scheme of the LIGHT is WHITE
• LIGHT character is 2 (Two) FLASHES seperated by 2.3 sec. every 10 seconds

0015. Namibia - Pelican Point Lighthouse (Walvis Bay)

The Lighthouse was built by the South African Government during their Administration of Walvis Bay Territory.  Pelican Point is a long sandy peninsula of Namibia sheltering Walvis Bay.  This is the best naturally protected harbor on the South-West African Coast.

This Lighthouse was commemorated by the Namibian Post with the release of stamp on 18-Jun-2010.

Built in the year 1932, the Walvis Bay PELICAN POINT Lighthouse:

• Tower is CIRCULAR cast iron
• Tower is painted with BLACK and WHITE HORIZONTAL Bands
• Lantern is painted with RED
• Height is 35 meters
• Colour scheme of the LIGHT is WHITE
• LIGHT character is 3 (Three) FLASHES seperated by 3.6 sec. every 20 seconds

0014. Namibia - Diaz Point Lighthouse

The Lighthouse was named after the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Diaz.  Diaz Point Lighthouse shelters the bay of Luderitz.

This Lighthouse was commemorated by the Namibian Post with the release of stamp on 18-Jun-2010.

Built in the year 1915, the DIAZ POINT Lighthouse:

• Tower is CIRCULAR mounted on a 1-storey HEXAGONAL Stone Base
• Tower is painted with RED and WHITE HORIZONTAL Bands
• Height is 53 meters
• Colour scheme of the LIGHT is WHITE
• LIGHT character is a FLASH every 10 seconds
