The Lighthouse was named after the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Diaz. Diaz Point Lighthouse shelters the bay of Luderitz.
This Lighthouse was commemorated by the Namibian Post with the release of stamp on 18-Jun-2010.
Built in the year 1915, the DIAZ POINT Lighthouse:
- Tower is CIRCULAR mounted on a 1-storey HEXAGONAL Stone Base
- Tower is painted with RED and WHITE HORIZONTAL Bands
- Height is 53 meters
- Colour scheme of the LIGHT is WHITE
- LIGHT character is a FLASH every 10 seconds
