0166. Philippines - Capones Lighthouse


Capones Lighthouse marks the beginning of the Northern approach to Subic and Manila bays.  The Lighthouse is located on an island off the coast of Zambales Province, North of the entrance to Subic Bay.  It's an Historic Lighthouse, which guides international vessels coming from the North to North-West towards Subic Bay or to Corregidor Island Lighthouse at the entrance of Manila Bay.

The original lamp and lantern were replaced with modern solar-powered Lighthouse Light as part of the Maritime Safety Improvement of the Philippine Coast Guard.

Capones Lighthouse was commemorated by Philippines Post in its Lighthouse Stamp Series - I with the release of 6 peso stamp on 22-Dec-2005.

Established in 1890, the Capones Lighthouse:
  • Tower is SQUARE CYLINDRICAL brick
  • Tower is painted WHITE with RED trim
  • Height is 17 metres
  • Colour scheme of the LIGHT is WHITE
  • LIGHT character is THREE FLASHES every 15 second
