The twin Jiangxinyu Lighthouse was built in 869 AD and 969 AD. According to Wenzhou County annals, this Tang Dynasty pagoda was built as a day-beacon for sailors arriving in Wenzhou. The second Lighthouse was built exactly 100 years after the first.
The Lighthouse(s) are located at the Eastern end of Jiangxin Island in Wenzhou.
Both Jiangxinyu pagodas were listed as National Cultural Heritage Sites.
China commemorated the Twin Pagoda Lighthouse by the release of 80f stamp on 18-May-2002.
