0097. Jersey - Gorey Pierhead Lighthouse


Gorey, a village in the parishes of St.Martin and Grouville on the East Coast of Jersey. Gorey is one of the three main harbours of Jersey.  The position of Gorey as the closest strategic mainland point to the Cotentin Peninsula of France.

The Gorey Pierhead Lighthouse is located at the end of the pier in Gorey.  The Lighthouse is accessible by walking the pier.  The position of the Lighthouse 

Jersey Post commemorated the Gorey Pierhead Lighthouse by the release of 21p stamp on 5-Oct-1999

Built in 1966, the Gorey Pierhead Lighthouse:
  • Tower is SQUARE skeletal
  • Tower is enclosed upper portion
  • Tower is painted WHITE
  • Height is 8 meters
  • Colour scheme of LIGHT is RED or GREEN depending on direction
  • Light character is 4 seconds ON and 1 seconds OFF
