0022. Alderney - Corblets Bay and Fort

Fort Corblets is one of the many huge Victorian forts on the tiny Channel Island of Alderney. The beach, known simply as “Corblets” is where most of the surfing can be done here.

As a result of its strategic military location and the German occupation during World War II, the Alderney Island has a fascinating collection of fortifications, most of which were open to public for exploring.

A Lighthouse was seen (shown in the arrow mark) on the other side of Corblet Bay.

The stamp was released by Alderney Post in the year 1983 (under the Island Scenes).
